The reality of cost
When creating art often the reality of cost comes into play. The idea in my head isn't’ executable with my budget. Or sometimes space. In reality the luxury of having a space large enough to create large scale works is also a cost. sometimes able to navigate at others not so much.
Space is achievable and easy enough for me to modify. I can move to a larger room, basement, outdoors, There are a multitude of options availble ot me.
Monetary costs not so much, often making me rethink the concept and experiment with alternative materials, those I have available. To me this is an integral part of my process, trying different papers, printing techniques and as I ahve said before, frames. When I experiment this way the process changes, the piece becomes more refined.
Some of these work better for me, others not so much. But it drives me to a more complete vision. I equate this to painters, overpainting an area until it suits them. Or in some cases their patron! While I like to think of myself as an independent operator making a custom piece that reflects my work and pleases a client may have compromises.
All of these things relate to cost, whether it be monetary, visionary or practical.
